I got to drive one today. Engine is NICE. HOT! Exhaust sounds awesome! and it has some grunt. Cornering was really flat and surprisingly stable... but steering feel was very very isolated. I thought I was driving a boat. Interior is getting better compared to other american cars but still doesnt compare to any European or high end Japanese car.
Motor Trend tested its 0 to 60 in 4.8 sec
Car and Driver got 4.5 sec and a skidpad of 0.88g

One hot Jeep! If I had extra cash I'll have one in my garage.
GOTTA watch the Birds video here... Listen to it. Sounds AWESOME!

Maybe it's just me but these qualities are what I will some times look for in a car. Not an SUV. <_<
Exactlly. thats the cool part. You in a M3 or Porsche Carrera gets blown away by a Jeep.

Like many other cars (Cayenne turbo s, ML63 AMG...) i really don't find the purpose of those cars...

Nope.... because I would much rather drive the Porsche or M3 and watch the Jeep hit a tree on the first turn. I would rather have an SUV that really was an SUV (G-Class, Defender, or classic Rangie). I have no need to ``get my girl on."

This particular Jeep pulls about as much lateral g as your 530. If you hit a tree it's probably not down to the car....

And I wonder how they do in the slalom.

0.88 is not equal to 0.9.

You'll note that I said "about as much" - that 0.02 difference is probably all but undetectable, and the Jeep does it without active roll bars. No interest in defending it, and I certainly don't want one either, but it surprised me too to be honest!

That's pedantry at its finest, my friend!

I don't care it pulls as much G force as my E60 or whatever, i know it will not outbrake me, it will not outhandle me the only thing it will probably do is it will outrun me on a straight line ohhh and it will probably go through 2 inch steeper potholes. It still has the center of gravity of a block of flats whatever you do to it. Want a sports car get a sports car (eg 911), want a 4 door sedan with sporty influences get an E60, want to get the mother of all luxury get a Maybach or Rolls. They have to introduce the Jeep Grand Cherokee cabriolet and i'm sold
