Would you rather buy a Ferrari 360 Modena? or a Lamborghini Gallardo? Wanna know what BMW enthusiasts would rather own.
This is something I have been saving for and will eventually buy within the next couple of years (would have been next year but wife wants to travel around next year, bah!). Anyway, I was pretty much set on a Porsche GT3 or 911turbo but I test drove my neighbor's 360 and boy was it fun to drive. I decided to hold off the porsche purchase and save more for a 360 instead.
Last week, went to watch a movie with my son and a pearl orange lamborghini gallardo drove by. I about dropped my jaw watching it as it slowly crept by. It looked absolutely amazing! I fell in love with it instantly! Even my 5y.o. son said "daddy can we buy that nice car?"
So now I'm reading owner forums and researching cost of ownership and maintenance costs. Looks like both cars are fairly reliable as long as they are driven regularly. The gallardo costs a little bit more for maintenance, but looks a bit more striking to me. Considering my neighbor drives a red ferrari, the gallardo wins even more points on this aspect also.
I'm bouncing back and forth between these two. I wont be buying one for a while yet, but who knows I just might make an impulse purchase!

Get the Ferrari F430, the successor to the 360. Most performance mags and enthusiasts rate it as the better driving/handling car. But for making a statement, nothing beats a Lambo.

I dont really like how the 430's front air dam is rounded out. I like the 360 front end a lot better. Now the 430 Scuderia however= pure sex! Too expensive though! Would rather buy one horse and one bull than a scud!

While I both cars are incredible, I think a the Gallardo looks a little...weird.. I think the Gallardo is the better performing of the two, but the 360 the better looking. I think Ferrari has a better name in racing, therefore when you buy it you become part of the heritage, in a way. I dunno. Go 360. If it was a Gallardo vs. a 430, it would be 430 hands down.

added poll...
would have to test drive the 430. gotta check reliability also. Idk, something about the rounded front though... maybe it'll grow on me.

Between those two, there's no doubt in my mind. The Lamborghini.
The latest Gallardo, the LP-560, is an incredible machine. To my eyes it looks more exotic than the corresponding Ferrari, to my ears it sounds better than the corresponding Ferrari, it's faster, it's meaner, it's not the "default" choice in the segment. It doesn't hurt that it's easier to drive for those of us who aren't Michael Schumacher. It could be the ultimate daily driver. I was fortunate enough to drive one on a track, and even more fortunate to be driven in it, incredibly hard, by a race instructor doing hot laps. It soaked up the punishment and it came back for more. Great car.
I'd love to be able to own either one, but I'd almost be willing to sell a kidney to get a Gallardo - in fact, I'd probably consider selling both for a Murcielago LP-670 Super Veloce!
