Hmmmm... In the video. It looked like the M5 was losing and the only time it caught up was when the RS4 was breaking. Several times in the video the RS4 disappeared when there was open road. <_<

Very nice racing video, Georgos.
Does anyone know what is SRT's
0-60: (Possible under 5 second?)
1/4 mile:
How about its handling? Is it even close to handling like a German car?
I heard Chrysler and Mercedes share a lot of parts.

Theoretical performance stats based on power and weight from Lets Torque BHP:
300 SRT 8
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 425
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1835
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 235.33
0 - 60 (Secs) : 4.84
0 - 100 (Secs) : 10.46
60 - 100 (Secs) : 5.62
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.01
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 111.54
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.91
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 112.78
550i
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 367
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1725
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 216.17
0 - 60 (Secs) : 5.17
0 - 100 (Secs) : 11.69
60 - 100 (Secs) : 6.52
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.40
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 107.05
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.30
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 108.25
I know the Chrysler CAN'T be that quick - can it ????
(apparently not - http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...ticleId=105027)
Aerodymanics HAS to be a factor - (the chrysler doesn't have any)
What surprises me is the weight difference - not much at all.
I saw a black Chrysler on the M1 yesterday - it looked incredibly mean.

Thanks for the numbers, needforspeed.
I thought 550i is the fastest sedan under $70K. Looks like we got a powerful challenger.

Car and Driver tested the SRT-8 and got 4.7 for the 0-60, and 13.2 for the 1/4 mile. It also pulls around .9G and they felt it had astonishingly good brakes. (so, yes, it can go round corners, and stop ) It's definitely going to push even a 550 hard. It lists for around $43K - trouble is that there is a very limited production run and dealers are adding "market adjustments" so you'll end up paying through the nose. But it is indeed a monster. Personally I wouldn't want one either but credit where it's due, the SRT is a serious piece of kit and I wouldn't expect to beat one in my 545.

You are right, and I apologize. But for the purposes of the original question, the SRT is actually a monster and will give any 5 up to the M a run for its money. It's a better car than it's getting credit for here.
The Chrysler sure is a fast car but i'll tell u, i think i have driven almost every car there is included a Chrysler 300 (not the SRT) but there really arent a lot of cars that can match the bmw's handling and stability. They really are one of the best in there class, maybe even the best.

But thats not so strange, its a biturbo engine with almost 400hp. And if its remapped, what i bet it is looking at the drivestyle of the owner, it will have over 450hp. Considering its weight i think it will beat the M5

My Ride: '05 545i - scheduled for ED pickup in Munich on 7/22!
It seems like the 300 SRT8 would walk on a 550i.
Maybe the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is about even with the 550i...???
The Jeep's 0-60 is also below 5 sec, but it is even less aerodynamic and perhaps even heavier than the 300 SRT8, so the 550i might catch up at high speed.
Whatever the case, BMWs aren't designed for maximum straight line speed. The American musclecars sacrifice everything for power. BMWs are almost as fast on the highway, AND can do everything else well too.
