I'm really surprised this car has had so many issues.

A reminder that incredible performance requires incredible engineering. A top of the line "Halo" model that can't last more then 6 months without major drive train issues is going to give Nissan a black eye...
You have to understand that even a Porsche or any car will break down if it is abused. You can only use the LC feature so many times before it breaks. In any line of cars, you will have lemons, too. While Nissan is not known for super reliability, the combination of first year production, the name brand, and some abuse is probably giving the GTR a bad wrap.

just watched th Macau races.

Porsche came in 1 and 2 and then the Ferraris (well modded) by quite a margin, where were the GTRs?
its near Japan so no excuse for them not to turn up
German cars tested in daily use on the autobahn v freeways of Japan (i know they tested it in the N ring etc,.)
but there is only gonna be one winner, German tech + reliability wins

It was probably ripped out from underneath when the driver tried to use Launch Control!

Probably why they decided to brand it as a Nissan and not an Infiniti. Smart move!

It's actually attributed to dumbass drivers who don't know that the tranny has to cool down before they do LC back to back. Not even Porsche will warranty against driver's ignorance.

+1

just the fact that you're paying $90k for a Nissan hurts my ears.

Who would know that? I'm betting they weren't told at the dealership, and it's probably not in the manual, either. If I drive it 100 miles at 80MPH, do I have to pull over and let the transmission cool down before I continue driving another 100 miles at 80MPH? That's just crazy...

Although you make a perfect valid point...i think Bimmer32 wanted to say that in general in a high performance car you can't just do all the nasty $h!t with it a couple of times without letting the car "breathe". Moreover whoever knows how to access the hidden part of the LC should know better than to attempt another few LCs right away, and frankly if he/she documented on how to LC the car should have documented on how to properly maintain the car and i'm not talking here about oil changes.
