Those cars all belong to Maybach Manufacturing. The have license plates from Stuttgart - MM ...
The SLR's have B (Berlin) MM and S (Stuttgart) LR...

Iceman, can you explain the MM and LR designations? I'm guessing that the MM is something referencing "Manufacturer".

How do they work?

In Germany our license plates are built as follows:

First comes the letter for the City or Area. It can be one, two or three letters. One letter means the city is bigger than two letters, bigger than three letters.

Then there are one or two letters... ANY... Your choice or random...

Finally one, two, three or four digits.

So, S-LR means, car is registered in S, Stuttgart that is. B is Berlin, M is Munich, F is Frankfurt/Main...

Whoever owns the SLR is from Stuttgart and thought it's cool to have S-LR on the license plate and therefore got LR as his choice for the two letters after the S for Stuttgart. Pretty sure this car is owned by MB or MM.
S-MM, the same story, but MM was chosen because the cars are owned by the Maybach Manufacturing = MM.
And B-MM... Well, it's an SLR, parked in the secured Maybach space next to the Maybachs owned by Maybach... So it's pretty easy to say that this SLR is owned by MM and therefore they chose MM. If they would've got LR instead, the license plate would read B-LR, s they went with B-MM instead.

Just an example:

Bill Gates registeres his car in Germany. Let's say he resides in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the winter time for skiing... GAP-
Then he can chose whatever is available...

GAP-BG 2810 or GAP-BG 1955.........

There are no manufacturer plates in Germany.

I've never driven a Maybach, but that's one awesome car. I have nothing against MBZ, in fact my wife drives a W210 E320. But it doesn't even compare to the ultimate driving machine

And for sure SLRs' belongs to Mercedes that has the head office in Stutgart. The licence plate is too nice to be only a coincidence.

Thanks for the explanation Iceman. I always wondered about the letters after the city designation...

Hi Ice

Surely you can help me by explaining why sometimes after the town designation letters there is one letter and sometimes two. Any special reason?
Thank you and best regards
Marco

Didn't he kind of explain it already in his explanation?

One-letter towns are bigger than two-letter towns, etc.
