My Ride: On Order, due in May - 2007MY 530D SE, Silver Grey, Black Dakota, Auto, Brushed aluminium shadowline, sports seats / wheel, hi fi speakers, mats, space saver wheel and a few more bits

I have been doing very few miles since getting the E60 and do not get over 30mph most days  but had a chance today to see how it compares with another similar (lesser) exec on an open 2 lane dual carriageway (UK). Following a Jaguar X Type 2.5D at 90 - 100mph. It moved over and started trying to pull away so I hit the pedal at 90 and took off hitting 140 in no time scary but not dangerous, nothing else about. With a re-map giving me 271hp & 600NM (M5 510NM). I really felt the amazing force of such a great engine. Even quiet too - very happy until I get a speeding ticket.

Will not make a habit of this as I would have been very annoyed watching an E60 go flying past with such ease. Must take it easy as only have 3K on the clock

That's unfair. Poor kitty only has 2.5 l and no remap

I know exactly what you mean by "scary". I still haven't got used to the remapped 535 engine, and the other day I just pushed it a little too much. I think the guy in the Clio in front of me who was doing 60 or so nearly had a heart attack when these lights jumped on him from nowhere (black car at night, emerging from a side road) and overtook him like a flash. Shame I forgot the bend after that is rather closer when you are doing 100 than when you are doing the usual 60... Oh well, tested the road holding ability - better than my memory. The only thing that hit me - later, once she recovered - was the wife.

Why, was she driving the Clio?

Not wanting to be too pedantic, the kitty has a 2.2D engine not 2.5D.

My bad. But his even worse. Little defenceless kitty, with nearly a litre of engine capacity difference. Serves him right

So you finally had chance to blow Jag away did you. Get a life. You do other BMW owners a disservice Perhaps you could also get some fluffy dice to hang from your interior mirror.

kjhkent,

Dude calm down. No reason to be a jerk. That kind of attitude won't get you very much here...
