e60 and S4 Cabrio...who wins?

Just passed 1200 miles on the odometer on my 545i. At a stop light, an S4 Cabriolet pulled up next to me...could not see what year...the tell-tale ugly front end. Light turned green...the S4 hits the gas...I responded and let loose with the melodious V8...meeeeeow! Pulled passed (1/4 car length covering ~250 yds) the S4 before lanes merged. Would I have pulled away more had I been able to respond quicker to the impromptu street drag?

think you'd be ok vs cab it's a bit heavier/slower. s4 would be a close match not sure who'd win that one. prob s4 w/manual if driver knew what he/she was doing.

The data below are somewhat inconsistent. Regardless, I think you would keep pulling away--especially from a convertible.

I love these threads.

On paper, the E60 should win by a small margin, but remember in the real world, other factors play a big part. The S4 Cab is Quattro, so a big traction advantage in less than perfect road conditions. The relevant sprint times are very similar but give the E60 the edge.

Also bear in mind reaction times, with 0-60 so close, if the S4 car got any kind of a lead off the line, the E60 would struggle to pull it back & of course vice versa.
