Lexus is still just a Toyota with leather seats. Good quality but.

Compared to the iDrive, the Audi MMI is actually more difficult to use. The MMI is more button-dependent than knob dependent.

Personally I like buttons over the iDrive (ala 1990's era sony command dial on the ES auto radios). I can feel my way around the buttons without taking my eyes off the road. I can't do that with the iDrive. While I find the iDrive is easy to use I don't think it's the best option for the highway.

I think the iDrive was put in place to address a problem that seems to have gone away with the popularity of PCs and the Internet. People used to complain about BMWs having too many buttons. The E28's lost the 10 key OBC in favor of a base-10 key interface. The E39 reduced the buttons a little more but then the E60 killed most buttons with the iDrive. Now we're seeing BMW introduce more buttons back and the F10 and F1 will see more buttons as part of the iDrive much like the MMI on the Audi.

Yep... even the quality I think is a little over rated. And attention to detail is lacking.

cars are MADE IN GERMANY
Except for the Audi's made in Hungary.
The BMW's made in South Africa, Austria and England.
And the Merc's made in Thailand and the USA.

Yes yes some of them are just parts...but a car = the sum of it's parts.
