BMW will most likely stay with front engine layout since this is what they do best. BMW is trully working on their supercar probably will bear the name M10. We'll see what's what.

Looks like they put the shifter on backwards. Reverse on the shifter indicated down, the slot for the short thow indicates up. they should have spent a little more time on the details.

I just don't see a diesel in a sports car, irregardless of its hp, torque or 0-60. They just don't have the sound and feel that I want in a sports car.

Re the Passat, it looks like an '08 Accord front stuck on a CLS. I absolutely would not want "Lane Assist":
This active lane keeping system on the Passat CC is unique worldwide in this vehicle class. It automatically counter-steers as soon as the Passat CC leaves its lane unintentionally; a genuine gain in convenience and safety. About 14 percent of all accidents involving injuries are caused by the vehicle leaving its driving lane. "Lane Assist" will contribute to reducing this accident rate. By the way, if the driver sets the turn signal to
intentionally change lanes, "Lane Assist" does not intervene.

I have the Lane Departure Warning in the 550i. There are times that it goes off when it shouldn't. Such as when extra lines are in the lane due to construction, etc. I would not want the car jerking me to where IT thinks I should go. Besides, there are SO many folks in NC that refuse to use their turn signals. They are sure to wreck if they try to change lanes but the car is resisting such a move. The first time this happens, VW will get sued big time. I think AI (artificial intelligence to steer and park) in a car is NOT yet ready for prime time.

PS: Note that DSC is different. It assists the driver to go where he wants to go (as noted by steering wheel angle, yaw angle, etc).

True that the diesels can perform and sometimes they can perform better than their petrol cousins BUT the same it's true that diesel should not belong into a super sports car. It simply doesn't fit.
