majority of the engines are like that, such as the C55 only being a 5.48L engine, due to "import tax" in some countries, such as hong kong, a 4.9L and a 5.0L tax is a HUGE difference. But...MB does badge it quite weird.... they had a 3.0 V6 named it C/SLK/E/CLK 280. because they didnt want to depreciate the value of the "newer" models, like C300, SLK300, etc
