My Ride: 2008 BMW 550i Silver Metallic w/Sport Automatic Transmission, Ventilated Comfort Seats in Beige Nasca Leather, Light Poplar Trim, NAV, HUD, Active Steering, Night Vision, Active Cruise Control, Logic 7, Blue tooth Hands Free, Dynamic Stability, Soft Close.
Mods: RPI Exhaust, Scoop + FIlter, License plate LED lights
Top gear compared both cars and as far as the straight line acceleration goes...the c63 amg was 2-3 mph faster than the m3 in a measured distance and in the circuit the m3 outperformed the c63 in every way. whats the use of that 6Litre engine when the 4Litre M3 can outclass it in a proper race. And whats more, i personally think the M3 styling is better.

Apple to apple, I think the C63 looks much much better than the E90 M3 (not E92 M3). But other than that, the M3 wins on most other categories from me. Especially the center console in the C63 is

In the end my sister got the E90 M3 with DCT. In all honesty she thought the C63 was too much car for her. She also thought the M3 look more feminine.

The other factor is that the M engines are actually very heavy. I would need to test drive the C63 (and the M3s) before making a full opinion but I think I'd prefer the M3. In styling, all 3 are nice with the E92 M3 tops, with the E90 M3 too subtle, and the C63 a bit too agressive. I do like the 3 series interior but only in 2 tone with all black being too plain.
I would salvate over the C63 torque and performance but I want a well balanced car with handling feel to match. The M3 is better here. The 550i has a great balance of comfort and handling feel. I believe the M3 does too in brief rides I've had (with the adjustable suspension option).
Based on reviews, the C63 just doesn't like to be pushed on a racetrack. The M3 is the hands down winner here. Even the 550i feels at home at track speeds. Even though I want room and comfort as a daily driver, I want a car that feels at home on a twisty road and a race track.

Funnily enough, I was at a track day recently and the quickest cars - by some margin - around the 1.7 mile circuit were the race prepped Miatas. Apart from driving our own cars and the track cars, we got to take hot laps with the instructors at the wheel and the Miatas were just incredible!
