I don't know if it serves a purpose, but I like this F1 style of wheel (chopped bottom). BMW should do this on the M cars. This pic is from the new C63 AMG. It also has an Alcantara-covered option.

Audi and Mercedes interiors are a million times better than bimmer interiors.

I agree that both MB and Audi have better interiors. But I can accept the lower level interior if that means that more money and engineering has been spent on the car itself. My $0.02.

Alcantara wheels leave something to be desired. They end up being a pill-covered mess.

I have one on my E46.

i don't believe those flat bottom steering wheels are permitted in the usa. euro gallardo's and rs4's have them, but usa versions don't.

i guess we'll have to wait to see if it makes it to the usa in the c63...

I dont' believe thats true. The new R8 has the flat bottom steering wheel in the US. And yes the C63 will have it also.
