530E60NL, I did drive that as my only car for 18 years. It only broke down twice in 18 years, once for the alternator brush failing, and once for the spring on the accelerator pedal failing. Other than that, the car has been virtually trouble free, and gets 34 miles per gallon on the highway. Now, my wife had her cars, so we were still a two car family.
Amazing... Shows how well build Mercedes were then!

Let?s see.... I?ve got my license at 18 , 1981. Cars:

1981: Ford Taunus 1.6 -77, drove 45000 kms, 150000 total when sold
1982: Ford Taunus 1.6 -78, drove 160000 kms, 210000 total
1987: BMW 320i -81, drove 270000 kms, 380000 total
1994: BMW 525i -90, drove 160000 kms, 270000 total
1997: Bmw 525 tdsA touring -96, been driving 330000 kms, 382000 total today, still counting...
2004: BMW 530dA touring, should be delivered on Saturday finally !!!

All BMW?s has been great cars.

I?ve been driving quite a lot, always with used cars, and naturally there's been some minor issues, typically electrical, and some more serious ones with the Auto gearbox of my current ride.

On the other hand, for example, there hasn't been a single problem with any of my BMW engines... never changed any part of exhaust pipes and so on...
I'm pleased w/ the quality, comfort and especially ride, and I?m ready to start collecting kms to my first new BMW!!

Kari
