Started driving in 85:

1974 Ford F100 Explorer pickup truck (Dad's car)with a 7.4 liter monster under the hood, low-end cam and glass pack exhaust system you could hear a mile away. Fast as hell and fun to do dough nuts with.

The first car I owned was 1978 Olds Cutlass with 5.0 liter V8 that need a valve job badly, hence was nicked name "The Hazzard" for all the blue smoke it spit out. Better not stall while backing out the drive or it was done for the day unless you used a carberator spray which almost burned the hair off my Dad's arm one time.

1984 Camaro with a 2.8 liter engine and 2 barrel carb. It was a total dog but had nice wheels.

1987 Iroc Camaro with a 5.0 liter V8 that I used to do power slides with until I tore out the rear end.

1993 Z28 Camaro with 5.7 liter V8. Very fast but rode like a tank.

1998 Toyota Camry V6 (family) which was a nice family car.

2001 BMW 330i which was a great car.

2004 545 which is the best all around car of the bunch but I must say that the fastest car I've owned was that pickup truck (up to about 80 anyway).

I'm one of the older members (but can't hold a candle to JDN), so my history looks like this: Started driving at 16 --

1961 Olds Starfire convertible (this baby did 0-60 in under 7 seconds)
1964 Olds Starfire (did not have the pizazz of the '61)
1971 Audi 100 (good car; good handling with front wheel drive)
1975 Audi 100 (bad car; electronic brain failed repeatedly; so unreliable I had to get rid of it after two years)
1977 Peugeot 604 (first manual I owned; wonderful car - went up to 100,000 miles when another car lost control and totaled it)
1986 Mercedes 300E (manual; still own - giving to my 16 yr old daughter; fantastic car - I just replaced the original clutch at 180,000 miles)
2004 530i (so far -- great car; technically outstanding engineering-wise; too early to tell if it has the quality of the old Mercedes)
You drove that mercedes for 18 years and did not have another car?????

Cars of that age still drive around here. Especially in summertime we see them alot with roofracks on the roof with a pile of stuff underneath a plastic cover and 5 people in there going south where the mercedes-star on the hood shows wealth even if it is 18 years old .

530E60NL, I did drive that as my only car for 18 years. It only broke down twice in 18 years, once for the alternator brush failing, and once for the spring on the accelerator pedal failing. Other than that, the car has been virtually trouble free, and gets 34 miles per gallon on the highway. Now, my wife had her cars, so we were still a two car family.

Oh, I forgot about my FIRST car.

Man it was fun to drive. I actually learned to drive at quite a young age!

Here's a video of me driving my first "baby" (it sounds great too):

I've been driving since I was 17.....I'm 31 now.....here's my list.....

Ford Orion 1600 L (Escort with a boot)......at least I learnt a bit about engines
Vauxhall Cavalier 1600 GL........OK, except made me look old before my time.
Vauxhall Cavialier 2.0 GL Auto......swapped it for the other cav, cos I fancied an auto.
Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 CDX.......So these were my strange years. Blinking awful car. Sold it to my mum, and it broke down to the tune of ?2K a week later.
Nissan Terrano II.....nice, but a company lease for just 3 months. Lots of plastic tho.
Fiat Punto.......arghhhhhhhhhhhh
Vauxhall Omega 2.5 CD.......Good value exec.
Landrover Freelander..........Great fun, no guts.
Honda Accord 2.0 SE Exec.......nice, great value and quality. Still own this as second car.
Mercedes E200K.........very nice, good quality, great car, except I was 28, not 88.
Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7CRD Ltd.........Yeah hah.....speed bumps here I come!!!
BMW 525.........best car I've had so far........well, objectively........I drove the Jeep through 4 feet of water once......wouldn't do that in the bimmer.

I started driving a 197x Chevy Silverado 4x4 with the manual shifter on the column at age 14. Of course never on the main road because you would need a license for that.

-- Legal to drive at 16 --

1976 Jeep CJ-5 Renegade (red, white and blue bi-centennial edition)
1979 Ford Bronco (the big one - 400 cubic inches, fender well headers and glass packs)
1982 Toyota SR5 4x4 Pickup (best truck ever ? amazing to drive ? loved deep snow)
1993 Toyota 4Runner V6 SR5 4x4 (way under powered)
1998 Toyota Tacoma Xtracab V6 TRD 4x4 (nice power in the mountains ? Hooky Pass Copper Mountain Colorado)
2001 Toyota Tundra Xtracab V8 Limited 4x4 (first automatic since the Bronco ? manual not an option ? kinda like the auto)

-- PCS to Germany --

The car and country to convert the truck owner?

BMW 545iA ? Very excited about delivery on Friday at 1100 hours!

Fun topic

1990 Nissan Maxima SE
1992 BMW 535i (E?) second hand
1995 MB 230E second hand
2001 BMW 730i second hand
2004 BMW 520i (E60)

But for some strange reasons, I feel that the 730i (E48?) drives better than the E60
