The 300C is a horrible car, had a 3.5L for one weeks when driving from Texas to New York (half way it broke down and we got one even more rubbish Chevy Trailblazer...). Ok, I have to say both were comfortable, but nothing more.

Hey now...don't make such a generalization based on one bloated HEMI...remember about the only thing the new HEMI has in common with earlier HEMI is the name There are much quicker American cars out there
concur. These modern "hemi" are NOT "hemi" of the earlier decades. The name plate "hemi" is a marketing concoction.

I couldn't bear to watch a video of a modern day Chrysler so I just read the posts in this thread instead. I'd agree on the aquarium concept.

Not to jump on my own pile. But aren't all of their products based on pure hype. Did anyone see the styling on their midsized sedan? The designers should be shoot or it was an inside job to split out the American division. Or the Benz Boys were drugged up on having their own "Apocalypse Now."

Hello all,

I'm late to this party but have my 2 cents to add.

Wow, no way in the world that is possible. The guy in the 300c was in manual mod and in the wrong gear at take off. Come on guys, be realistic here. SMG does not make that much of a difference. 300c's are 14 second 1/4 mile cars from the factory so the 545i must me a 12 second cars to pull like that. To legitly pull the way you did in the video you'd have to be making waaaay more power over stock. I'm not saying your car is not quick but it will not pull on a 'healthy' and driven correctly 300c the way it did in the video PERIOD!

And for those who think the current hemi is worst than the the hemi motor from 25 years ago either was misinformed or are just american car haters. I won't go into all the details, I'ill just leave link for you guys... http://www.hemi.com/

Oh yeah, anyone in the nyc area that would like to do a few pulls on video shoot me a pm. I have a charger and 300c, pick your poison...j/k

Will

Go figured . . . it's a Chryler website. If you read the people who put together and take apart the old Hemi, they'll tell you that the only positive side the modern hemi is the precise and added technology that is used to compensate for the traditional "brute" power of the Hemi of Olde. Yes, cylinders and shafts are more refined, but they are also smaller and efficient. In terms of hemi power output, there no doubt the size and weight of the old Hemi design is still classic.

But, if you're after efficiency, the new hemi improved with time.

Just for a comparison, the current 6.1 (370cu) hemi in the srt8 makes more power than the 70's 7.0(426cu) hemi. Plus if you take all the techno nannies off the srt8 the motor will produce even more power. The guys in the 70's had none of this to worry about.

At close to double the price of a 300 I'd be expecting nothing less from the 550. "Any motor setup" opens up the SRT8, however, which is a different proposition to the regular 300. It will pull around .89G and it's quick (it certainly isn't slower than a 550) so your money may not be quite as safe as you think
