Doesn't look like a race. If it was, it's a one car race. The other guy doesn't seem like he's even stepping on it. Heck, our Accord can beat a M5... if the M5 wasn't really racing. Well, maybe not!

its the torque of that motor. these are not the 426 hemis of years ago. when you compare the curves the bmw torque comes on earlier and stays flatter. if it was a 426, 440 and 301 of the 60s the question and results would be different.

GUYS! HE was racing, We rented that hemi to make a race. Later I'll post video from the start!!! I thought it would be faster too but was very disapointed with HEMI. I would never buy any american car in my life!

That should have been way closer. Was he adjusting his seat belt or something? I used to have a 300C. I'm not saying he should have won, but it should have been closer.

If it was truly a 300c with the Hemi engine it's pretty much identical to the 545 SMG in terms of power to weight (4046 lbs, 340 hp against 3803lbs and 325hp). SMG has lower drivetrain loss, but the 300c has much higher torque (close to 400lb ft) and those runs would have been in the sweet spot for its torque curve . Overall I'd expect the 545 to win out, but certainly not by those kind of margins. Are we sure it was the hemi, and not the 300 with the vanilla V6?

Hey now...don't make such a generalization based on one bloated HEMI...remember about the only thing the new HEMI has in common with earlier HEMI is the name

I actually test drove a 300C hemi couple of weeks ago and i was EXTREMELY dissapointed... it felt very underpowered compared to my 550i... i guess its the weight... it feels like my GMC 2500 Van.
That just goes to show you how much better balanced BMW makes it's cars...probably 100lbs (or less) difference in weight between your 550i and the 300C...amazing how the BMW is so much more agile and well balanced so it doesn't feel as heavy!
