My Ride: 2007 550i..... ex
Hey have any of you 550i guys ever try to run one of the newer CLK500s?
550i
360HP
360TQ
0-60 in low-mid 5s
6spd auto
~3,814lbs
CLK500
302HP
339HP
0-60 in mid-high 5s
7spd auto
~3,585lbs
I came upon one tonight while going uphill towards home after work and he was behind me, I then see his xenons come up really fast and I knew it was on. It caught me off guard since I was in the wrong gear and had to tap down once (3rd into 2nd), but by then it was too late, he was ahead but only by several feet or so, I didn't have the chance to really upshift since the uphill was getting narrow and approaching the end. But I think I could've taken him if given the chance to line up evenly.
It was dark so I assumed it was the CLK500 and because I didn't see the AMG badge either and it couldn't have been the CLK350.
They are a bit lighter than us but our extra power and torque makes up for that. What do you guys think?

Well then after doing a little research and comparisons, the 550i should be able to take on the CLK500, but not the CLK55. But I think with some minor mods, a little intake there and some exhaust there, maybe a chip then it would at least be able to keep up with the AMG. But back to the original topic, I could feel my car starting to pass up on the benz, but I just straight up ran out of room with the narrow lanes, plus I don't really trust other people driving on the road and didn't want him/her to start wandering into my lane or anything.............
Man I'm gonna find this guy in my neighborhood and have a little confrontation..............

Yep, our 550's will pretty easily beat any of the 302HP Mercs such as the CLK500 you came across or the E500, but we lose out to the new 382 HP models such as the E550, and to any current AMG.

There is a CLK550. How sure are you that it was the CLK500 and not CLK550? Like swajames mentioned, 550i will have a most difficult time with a Mercedes "x"550, x = CLK, E, CLS, SL, CL.

HHHmmmmmm I didn't even know that there is a CLK550 that's why I assumed the 500 trim. It was dark and I just assumed it was one of the V8s. The only way to know for sure is to check it out on the weekend when I have time to stalk around the neighborhood looking for it. At least I got the color, it's one of those pewter colors........ It may very well be the CLK550, I'm not sure but there's only one way to find out.......

I have hollywoodtrash hunting around for the CLK550 in Orange County as well. I'm hoping I run into one this week when I go pick hollywoodtrash in OC to go to Vegas or encounter one on the way there.
