Wow, I recently cancelled my subscriptions to C&D, Road&Track and Motor Trend. Guess I should go pick up this issue....

Man, the horsepower war is getting out of hand and I feel so faaaaaaar behind. HAHAHA
Funny thing is that out of the M5, E63 and S6, it's the S6 which has by far the lowest BHP but it's been placing well, with a 1st and two 2nd places in the latest tests. Common feedback seems to be that it handles far better than anyone thought it would going into the test (it out-cornered and out-braked both the M and the E, matching the M5 on some lap times). Just goes to show HP isn't everything!!!!

Here's some of the Automobile magazine review:

Who was first in the other tests where the S6 came in second?

It was the E63. Motor Trend had the S6 in first place, M5 (SMG) in second and the E63 in third. Car and Driver had the E63 first, the S6 in second (losing by just one point) and the M5 in third. Automobile put the E63 in first, the S6 in second and the M5 in third.

I was hoping you'd say the M5 was first place or at least it was an even spread between the three. And boy, can't wait to see what the RS6 can do..

Would love S6, but, VW, please cut some weight on the Quattro.
AWD for Southern and Northern California is just like bicycle for a fish. Cut weight, save gas, and spend more time on handling like BMW. Go for 2 wheel rear drive instead.

Fred, I think you missed what Swajames wrote. Those articles said the S6 out-cornered and out-braked the M5. Seems like the performance gap discussion between RWD and quattro is gone....

Yeah! That?s why I hide it in the garage....................

But in the end of march then it?s something completely different. Then I will forget about all carmagazine tests and go whip some Audi, MB and Porsche a** on the roads

550i over S6. Personally I've never been a fan of the Audi styling, too flash in the pan. Even when BMW comes out with something as different as the e60, they make it an instant classic. Audi on the other hand in my opinion has always been the "out dated" looking one after a few years of age.
