It was a financial decision..... even though I could afford the E55, I decided to go with something more reasonable.... the lease on the E55 was $1400/month vs the 545i at $700/month....

FikseGTS, if you would take the E55 over the 545 any day of the week what made you decide to get the 545?

That M7 has been on the drawing board for quite a while now... No word yet that confirms it will be released one day...

Here are some live pictures of the new S-Class.

These were not taken by me. But the pictures were taken a few days ago in Upstate New York at Palisades Centre Mall. The car has New Jersey plates though.

IMO, I don't like the bulkiness of the wheel arches.

I did this in another thread and I'll do it again here:
Attachment 8660Attachment 8661

again FikseGTS, u make me laugh when u speak of the Viper's handling, like it has some benchmark when it comes to handling!? that is the silliest thing yet.? the only thing that car has is brute force just like the e55.? I'm not into drag strip racing, I find quite boring.? I much prefer being connected to the road and in case of an emergency the handling is much of a higher priority.? Now don't get me wrong the e55's handling is not like driving a maxima or anything but after you drive a BMW you always have to compare the mediocare to the superlative.? The only bmw I've ever driven is the X5, and it is the benchmark for SUV driving it handles better than the cayene S( not turbo, too much power) and worlds apart from the M-class( my cousin owns 1).? but again to each his own, I'm sure my opinion aint gonna do much to someone who already has an opinion that differs from mine now.? But it is still ncie to share it,?

I think the wheels arches would look awsome with larger custom wheels though, it does resemble a Maybach which screams "yeah I have money" nothing wrong with that. Same with the s class, this thread is showing how passiate Bmw and Mercedes admiriers are. Cars are differant just like people and its good to have variety, Bimmers and benzs has their plus and minuses. There both cool

Interior: lovely, though the M-B designers should be embarassed, the similarity to the 7-series is hardly coincidental. I guess if you can't lead, then follow.

Exterior: Holy fenders, Batman. Yikes.
I've never owned a Benz, or even seriously considered one. I've always thought the shapes to be too staunchy (or business-like) for my tastes. I do admire their recent efforts to appeal to the newer generation (the new CLK is gorgeous w/ the low swooping roofline). With this model they missed the mark. To me it looks like the hired twenty engineers (including the guy responsible for the infamous 7 series boot lid) to each work on different parts of the body, and none of them knew what the others had until they put it all together.

Then again, that's the same thing BMW traditionalists said of our beloved E60 when it arrived. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder (or beer holder).
