My Ride: 2010 E63 AMG -- Palladium Silver/Black.
Love this car but looking to switch things up to keep things fresh. 2nd AMG in a row, but toying with coming back into the BMW fold!
Though completely unrelated to BMW E60, but an interesting development nonetheless regarding BMW design influence, the 2007 Mercedes S-Class has an very similar interior to the BMW 7 series. The similarities are striking.

maybe, but it will also be available with 600+ HP....

come on now.... it took a few years, but BMW finally came up with an E55 competitor... the M5... not the 545i....
we're talking about the 7 vs S here though.... BMW has nothing to compare against the S55, S600, S65....

. i'm always wondering why bmw don't make a m7. i'm sure m7 will kick s55's butt or even s65's one hard 
. s600 is competing with both 760i and 760li.

[/quote]I had one of the first W211 E55s back in '03 and as I've said before--while it was scary quick--the steering was numb, the handling terrible, and the brakes were horrible (they've apparently decided to not use the brake by wire system in the new S class). It reminded me in a certain respect of a '70s muscle car--lots of power, but no finesse. The E55 is a luxo rocket ship...just don't expect a connected driving experience.
I enjoy driving my 545i much more than the E55 (which I sold after 4 months), but I don't think you can consider the 545i a E55 competitor (I got another Carrera after I sold the E55). Comparing the M5 and E55 is apples and apples.
