Drove both cars this week. I have been a BMW driver for the past 6 years and decided to try the CLS500. The cars both have similar performace (0-60 & Torque), but the MB seems to much nicer on the inside. Anybody else compared the two? The CLS is $10k more, but is seems to be worth it.

no, just 500 & 55. the cls55 pricing is roughly ~$20,000 more than the cls500 - however hasn't been released yet. I will be test driving one tomorrow, as out dealership just received 2 demo's yesterday. since my 5 series is in the shop once again - its perfect timing

It is always about $10,000 -20,000 more to buy a comparable Merc to a BMW...

ie... E500 equipped same as 545i Merc is WAY more $$$.

Pointless, IMO. Pay more money, and get a car with shit handling and an automatic transmission.

Not to mention that most Mercs are butt-ass ugly. SL class, excepted.

Interior of CLS is so much like the E class. Not a bad interior but performance wise i still think that 545i is better. With the 10k difference between them, i would rather get the 545i and buy an aftermarket rims with a full Hamann body kit / AC schnitzer.

Just my 2 cents worth

IMO the 545i shouldn't be compared with the CLS. I think the competitor of CLS should be 645ci. their price tag is similar and 645ci is absolutely a better car.

I agree the E500 is a better comparison, but the looks suck. The CLS is an E Class. Same enginge, same interior. The only reason I looked @ MB is I made the mistake of going to a 740il after owning a 525i. The depreciation on that vehicle pissed me off enough that I looked elsewhere. The 545 has a much better resale value.

My decision came down to the E500 and the E60. While the outside styling of the MB was very nice, the interior has become very plastic and cheap looking.
