I received call and the i-drive screen only shows the phone number and not the name of the person calling. When I use my Motorola V3 (Cingular), the name of the person shows on the phones LCD screen. Anyone know why it does not show the name on i-drive? The phone list is okay on i-drive with names and phone numbers.

Just an update, though it has been a while - my car was in at the dealer for this for a total of 5 days. They updated the CIP (progman) to 23.0 and tried various other resources, but still did not get it to work. Their conclusion was that the phone is not compatible with the car. They printed out a list of approved bluetooth phones and said to try back in 6 months or so to see if they have a resolution.

Since many other phones work fine and since this seems to be an issue with the Treo 700p, it would be interesting to see how the 700p works with other BT cars (not made by BMW).
I really think the problem isn't a BMW one but rather a Palm one. The best way to prove that is to see what happens when the 700p is paired with another car (like maybe a new M-B S-class or something else that would display caller ID information on a screen...

Do you have a MB Sxx sititng under a cover somewhere
I didn't have the problem with the Treo650, so most likely it has to do with the bluetooth software/firmware version on the phone. If I try and ask Palm for help, they will send me to Verizon and I doubt that I would get any help from them.

Now that the CIP in the car has been updated, i'm having much more problems with my Treo/car than I did before. It is very erratic as to when this happens, but now when I get in the car and start driving, it would cause my Treo to turn off and then back on again (like a device reset/reboot). During this process the phone feature will not always turn back on and the car and phone will keep on trying to pair the bluetooth devices and stay in this loop until I turn the car off.
This is much more frustrating then having the wrong caller id.

After owning and using at least 6 Palms over the years (since the Palm's inception) I'm beginning the (painful) process of migrating from Palm to Blackberry.
Both of my current Palm devices (Treo 650 and LifeDrive) crash constantly, etc. They are good at contact/calendar management but that's about it.
The BB 8700c that I'm using now is awesome. All contacts sync with the E60 and the phone sounds much better than the Treo.
Sorry I'm not delivering better news...

I know there are better products out there. Unfortunately for the time being I need to use the Treo since I use that for opening lock boxes for real estate.
