Will the iPhone 3GS Bluetooth connection work for Audio?

Not yet. Thats A2DP. Unfortunately even basic headunits of pioneer from even over 5yrs ago supports BTAudio but the E60 doesnt. :thumbsdown:
However I am sure the newer models will support it in the future hopefully. If your car has an Aux in, use that or you can purchase an OEM aux-in install from BMW.

My Ride: 2008 550i M-sport, retrofitted heated M-sport steering wheel with paddles, Sport-auto transmission
Although it won't help you now, there is a new option "6NF" which is available on the new 3 and 7 series (and apparently will be available on the F10 5-series) which will allow full smartphone integration of both the phone and audio functions. BMW is getting there... just very slowly.
