My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
Hey guys,
Those of you who have installed the BT adapter: What are you doing with the phone itself? Is there a standup cradle made for the Motorola E815? Where did you mount it?
Or, can you use it handsfree while it is closed up? Currentlly, mine lives in the storage slot beneath the single CD player.
Thanks for the suggestions: As you can see, I'm unfamiliar with new mobile technology--my last unit was an 8-yo Micro Tac.
Cheers,
Ray Hull

My phone is always in my pocket so I just leave it there when driving. The car recognizes it and signal strength is very good so all is well for me!

I thought I had to have it open to use BT. Thanks for that info.

Yep... closed. Just make sure you have the phone set with bluetooth powered on so it'll pickup the car or the car will pickup the phone when they get in range automatically.

RAY,
Motorola, makes something called a "Hang Up Cup" for the E815, it is made to be used in conjuction with Motorola hands free car kit, but it can be used as a stand alone holder for the E815. Here in Canada the cost is $ 70.00 but I am sure it is less in the USA, just go into your cell phone provider and ask for it by name.
With this said, I really do not think you need it. First, it will need to be mounted in the car, second I find that at times I forget my phone in the car as I am talking hands free so the phone is out of sight out of mind.
With a mounted holder for your phone, your car becomes a target for thiefs if you forget your phone and it is out in the open in a holder, you could encounter a smash and grab situation.
I still use my cell phone to dial numbers, as soon as I finish and I hear ringing on my handsfree I close the flip and put the phone in the same place that you do in the storage slot under the cd, as there is rubber on the bottom of this compartment and the phone does not slide around.
I suggest using the phone and bluetooth for a couple of weeks and I think you will find that bluetooth makes you reach less and less for your phone, so no need to add other gadgets, just my opinion.

By the way, the hang up cup is made to be used with Motorola cigarette charger for the E 815, so in effect if you chose to go this route, when you put the phone in the holder, it is already plugged into your lighter, so the phone will charge while in the holder, kinda like the BMW cradle. I opted to buy an extra battery for my E815 for $ 30.00 for those rare times that I run out of juice in my phone.
