During a service yesterday, I finally got my software updated to v15.3 and had bluetooth enabled. So far, my Motorola V710 with "superdave's" patch seems to work perfectly.
But in speaking with my SA earlier today, he told me that he just got an e-mail from BMW saying that Verizon has released new software to all of its stores in the US to make the V710 compatible with the E60. The Verizon software reference number is 8700_01.40R.
I'm probably going to wait. As long as the superdave patch works, I'll keep it. But I'll be interested to hear from others if Verizon actually has the new software and if it works.

Strange....
1.40R has been out (bootlegged) since December and it is what I am using. It works fine with BMW. It was being beta tested and I thought (howardforums) that it was shelved due to occassional problems. I suspect a version of 1.40R will become the standard but I would think it would be 1.41 or something...

The 8700_01.40R firmware was officially released by Verizon this week.
If you are having troubles with the bootleg flash, now Verizon will support you. BMW was lucky to have a Bluetooth profile that worked with Verizon. Many of the other 17 automakers are still stuck with incompatability issues.

Too bad Verizon doesn't notify their personnel. I spoke with them last week and they had no clue when or if there would be a fix for the V 710. I terminated my contract and went with Cingular and the Razr V3.

Just to add an update. It seems that it may have been pulled again later in the week. It may also be a market by market release. In December it was available in Texas. It was available in NC this week but there are conflicting reports in other places.
And no ... Verizon does not inform their reps. Sound like a high end German car manufacturer.....

Subject: bluetooth now available for Verizon motorolla v710phones
Dear Center Managers:
BMW NA received confirmation today from Verizon Wireless that a software upgrade (V710 SW8700_01.40R) has been distributed to all Verizon Wireless stores nationally.
This new software will allow the popular Motorola V710 handset to properly synchronize and download its phone book to MY2005 and later BMWs equipped with BMW Assist (except MY2005 7 Series with CPT9000 handsets and 3 Series sedans produced before 10/04). This software can be installed into existing customers' handsets upon customer request at no charge, but only at authorized Verizon Wireless stores (not kiosks or resellers). Purchasers of new handsets purchased should request and confirm that this software version is installed.
An updated list of recommended Bluetooth handsets containing this information has been posted on CenterNet under MENU: BMW/BMW Assist/Bluetooth Handsets.
BMW is pleased that Verizon Wireless customers can now enjoy hands-free and wire-free calling in our vehicles.
Sincerely,
Fran Dance

I bought my 710 for Verizon today and the phone came with the latest software already installed. It say 1.40 on the phone. Is this different than "1.40R" ?
