V710 cradle doesn't work

My Ride: 2004 530i - Titanium Grey/Grey/SMG/Nav/sports pack/premium pack/sirius prep
Brought the car in for bluetooth activation and install of the V710 cradle. They also did a software update and now I have "perspective view" on NAV, but no song titles on CD's. I haven't checked for MP3 yet.
Picked up the car today from the dealer after service dept. was closed. Bluetooth seems to function but the cradle doesn't charge the phone and it went dead.
I will talk to the dealer tommorow, but do any of you learned forumites know of something I can check like a certain unconnected cable to save myself the 80 mile round trip to the dealer?
BTW they charged me two hours of tech time for bluetooth activation. Is that about right or did I get the shaft (again)?

Looks like I'm going to get a V710 before my 545i gets here , but I'm curious: Where does the cradle get mounted? I take it that it is supposed to be hard wired so it will charge, but into what source? Thanks!

It gets mounted in the center console under the cover that serves as the center armrest. It's very clean looking. The phone snaps into the cradle under the armrest and it is out of sight.

The January '05 SB is not so specific in this regard. The December '04 version was very specific in its language about cradles not working for certain '04 models. I have an old copy at home and will review it later tonight to be sure.
