Update vs. retrofit - BT

Got a SW update on my 2006 E60 (I guess it's progman 26);
I just noticed I have a new icon on idrive (ie when I go to COMMUNICATION menu, the icon TELEPHONE displays);
The only thing is when I bring my Treo 680 in, the iDrive tries to connect (apparently) and then displays the item" no compatible phone"
From what I gathered on this forum, the treo 680 should work. So my question is: what should I now ask my dealer ? Apparently a SW upgrade should enable BT capability ? Is there more to ask (and pay ????) for ?
