ULF and TCU for Bluetooth
#1
I have a Feb. '04 build and my TCU didn't support BT.
I now have a new TCU b/c the old one broke and according to everything I've read here, all that should be needed is BT to be software enabled.
My dealer is telling me I need a ULF...does this make sense to anyone?

Your dealer has probably read the following document:
BMW_Assist_ULF_TSB.pdf
As you can see, it is NOT for the E60.
Some here on the forum have had their TCU switched and BT installed succesfully.
It seems this can be done, w/o switching the ULF and w/o switching the wiring harness...

dstompkins - Can you give us your TCU #'s for reference? I have the same build date and am wondering if I have the TCU that doesn't support BT. How did your TCU break?

Yes, please tell us the symptoms that you had that caused them to replace the CPU. I'm in the same boat as you were.
Also, list any part numbers from the receipt.
thanks,
James

As to the symptoms resulting in the tcu being replaced under warranty, my I drive would reboot during calls using the CPT9000 phone. A fault scan was done and showed a bus fault in the tcu. I suggest that you request a fault scan be done on your tcu and that may find a "problem" that you didn't know existed.
