So many problems with bluetooth on Sony phones. My P900 doesn't work. Not heard of the V800, but I'd be careful about anything from SE, if you want it to work in a BMW.

i really think you have to suck it and see
if you look at bmw.co.uk/bluetooth they list the phones tested with the various
phone software versions and tell you how to find out what software you phone has
i know i know i know the site is well behind the time but give em a chance

can you get a cradle to take the v800???

I have a V800 and yes it works. Not docked yet, but left in the door pocket with BT enabled and all's ok. Contacts list comes up on iDrive and voice dialling etc works also. Now just trying to do a DIY cradle fit, as there is no option for this model unfortunately.

DIY cradle is the way to go. See http://forums.e60.net/index.php?show...23924&hl=p910i for ideas. In fact even though the W800i and W810i have a BMW cradle I'm building my own for two reasons. Price and also the ability to use the walkman while it's charging! Sony did a really dumb thing by making the headphone and the charger socket the same...really stupid.

My attempts to create a DIY phone cradle for my wife's W810i failed. I was trying to use an old T610i cradle modified for the W810i. Everything was find except the phone wouldn't charge or would charge erratically. After some research I found out that Sony has changed the operating voltage and current for it's new phones when it moved to the FastPort type connectors (K750i onwards). The current from the old BMW SE cradles is not high enough to charge the new phones.

However I did succeed in creating a Cigarette Lighter charger which I can also connect to the Aux In. Thus I can now listen to the mp3 on the phone and charge it too, something that has not been possible because the new phones use the same port.

I won't buy a BMW cradle because the W810i does not work completely with the BMW anyway so I consider this to be a complete waste of money.
