I just realized today that I can use the arrow buttons on the steering wheel to run through the phone numbers and use the voice control to say "Dial" and it will dial the number that I have "highlighted" (in case I don't want to press the iDrive knob twice )

I think additionally when the number is highlighted just press the telephone button on the wheel.

I just voice "Top 8" then scroll and dial.

[quote name='jobah' date='Feb 16 2005, 06:06 AM']My unlocked GSM Treo 650 transfered the favorites buttons and it appears that all of the functions work well with the BT.

The favorites are "soft keys". on the 650 there are 5 screens of 14 soft buttons which can be programmed with phone numbers. These get transferred to the car.

It makes sense, as the treo can hold thousands of numbers from, for example, your outlook contacts. Mine has multiple numbers for about 700 contacts. I would not like for all of these to transfer. The favorites transfer is just the right amount of numbers.

Jobah,

Thanks for the update. However can you please confirm whether incomming calls show on the Idrive screen. Also do the voice commands work too??

TIA

I have the 650 and can confirm that the voice commands work, regarding incoming calls, they do show up and you have the ability to accept or ignore the call right from the I-drive menu. Answering a call initially always go through the car, however, switching it to the Treo is a simple button push (I like this). The voice command works particularly well with specific number dialing (ie. dial "eight eight eight five five five one two one two), however, name dialing is about 70% accurate.

I have a 545 build 7/04 with nav, prem sound, + BlueTooth enabled. I also have a Treo 650 with the CarKit update. I can't initiate any calls from the car, no favorites were transferred, + after the 1st call the Treo goes into a loop of resetting itself until I turn off the car's BT. What am I doing wrong!

I have heard of this problem when you have all 50 favorites allocated. If you do not, I don't know why you are having the problem. I have about 25 and have no issues. You also need to make your Treo "discoverable" in the BT menu.
