I prefer to keep mine off of the windshield. Between the V1 and the occasional G-timer, I wouldn't be able to see where I'm going.
I might as well cut the hood and throw a 6-71 blower on it... Hmmm......

I purchased a non-Palm holder for the TREO and have it double-sided taped to the center console just below the volume knob. It's a covienant holder location to drop the phone into and the angle is good for pushing numbers on the dial pad.
Of course, I wouldn't need a holder at all if BMW offered a built-in keypad like the 7-series. The one that's accessed through i-drive on the 5-series is a joke.
