I've updated my Treo firmware to 1.12 and also have the latest BMW 'firmware' update in the car...I don't have NAV, but I have the voice command function on the steering wheel. When I try to control the phone via voice command(dial contacts or phone numbers) it doesn't seem to control the phone. The phone works fine with the car otherwise(ie: syncing contact list, making/receiving calls,etc.)...
My question is, does anyone's voice command work with the the Treo 650?

The Nav system provides the expanded voice command capabilities such as iDrive options and accessing the phone's internal phone book by voice.
Without the Nav system, the only voice commands that are available with the phone are: 1) spoken numbers with the <Dial Number> command, or 2) spoken names that have been placed in the car's internal phone book with the <Save Name> command, then called up using the <Dial Name> command.
Hope this helps and welcome to the forum!

BTW,
the car will tell you a list of recognizable commands by saying "help" after pressing the voice command button...
Has anyone else had this issue with the Treo 650?

voice commands here:

you turn bluetooth on in the treo, then go to the setup screen for bluetooth in i-drive. it will pick up that there is a bluetooth device, then use a 'password' (just make one up; mine is a couple of zeroes). then the car and the treo will synch.
everything works fine except for not being able to see my address book.
in the bay area, you can dial 511 and get voice-activated real-time traffic reports.
have fun!
