I can confirm that an unlocked GSM Treo 650 works very well in my 545. I had bluetooth enabled in my 4/04 car. Previously I used a T616 and a T630, and I never got the phonebook to update after the initial transfer. With the Treo it updates after every change (to the favorites) I make, the next time I switch on the ignition. If I dial a number directly in the phones` directory, the car acts as a bluetooth headset, so not having the whole phones` addressbook transfer over is ok, (and a blessing, since I have hundreds of entries). Only anomaly is the Voicemail "favorite", since the "1" favorite transfers over as the number 1, and not the actual voicemail number. I use AT&T wireless, btw.
Great phone.

Fellas, still looking for a little help with my Treo 650. The favorites transfer from the phone and update just fine each time I start my car. However, when I say "Dial Name", I receive "The Phonebook is empty" I'm curious, does bluetooth voice recognition only work with cars having navigation? My car does not have navigation.
I was able to manually add a name to the car's internal phone book, per the manual command "Save Name." I can then say "Dial Home" and it confirms in my own voice if I want to dial home.
By doing that, the manually saved name never displays in the I-drive module phonebook...only the phone favorites, which I can not access by voice. I then end up with two phonebooks, one I can see in the I-drive, but only access by selecting it from the I-drive, and one I cannot ever see, but can access by voice. Is that normal?
Anyone with a Treo 650, non-nav, bluetooth enabled car: Can you use voice recognition with your phone favorites?
Thanks a ton!
Matt

Matt, do you happen to know what software version you're on?
I thought that the Save Name command was replaced with the speech-to-text recognition feature that doesn't need you to train or save any voice tags.
From your description, it sounds like your car is acting like one with really old software (but if you BT, you couldn't possibly have old software.)
Something is strange...
