Ok you all..... I bit the bullet and did the update but I downloaded Right Backup 1.82 before I did it. I backed up my device to restore if there was a problem.

and drum roll please.........

Yes, The update was a success, and I recommend it to other BMW drivers, now the voice dialing worked that didnt before and just as another person said, the phone book didnt transfer. Its almost like it starts creating its own phone book separate from the phone. I just installed it and htem my treo battery died so I will have more info tomorrow after a full days worth of use...

It seems to have done better, I did have to re-pair it though.... I'll let you all know more though....

Thanks for the advice and info.

I was just about to create a thread asking the same question...

I heard that the RAZR phone works, but I really love my Treo600, and if the 650 works, then I'll buy one of those.

My service rep told me I can bring my car in to activate the Bluetooth.? I think I'll activate it anyway, and hold off on buying the phone until I hear that it works.

I'd hate to spend the $$ upgrading to the 650 to get Bluetooth and it not work.

I have a 2004 E60...did the bluetooth compatability start after the 2004 run? I'd love to be able to link with my Treo 650. JJ.

That depends on your car's build date. BT can be had on all '04's (supposedly) but it's much more expensive for cars build before 3/'04. If your build date is 4/'04 or later, you should be fine. Make sure you get the bt update for the Treo 650 from Palmone's web site.

[COLOR=blue][B]I just bought a Treo 650 and I tried to pair it with my BMW 525 2005 and it paired with no issues. I have tested it today and it works fine, I can dial numbers from the car and I can answer or end calls from the car.

The only problem I have right now is to get my phone book to transfer to the car even if manually. I am not sure what to do try to push the phone bool to the car. Does anyone have any instructions?

You need to get the car kit update from palmONE's site

I checked the PalmONE web site and the phone I have which is GSM Unlocked (Not Locked to any carrier) phone does not require update it says! Is there way to manually push the phone book to the car?

By the way I found out that the Voice command works as well, you can tell it to start the phone, and the number to dial, etc....

The Treo650 will automatically send all its Favorite phone numbers and not the entire phone book. The secret as I understand it is to give it time to transfer...maybe a 1/2-hour drive or similar. Your favorites should then be there.

Good luck. I hope Verizon gets this phone soon!

That's exactly right. The phonebook from the 650 does NOT transfer - only the "Favorites buttons" do. Try to start with only a few of them to be sure your pairing with your E60 properly, then add more. It does take about 20 seconds for my 20 contacts to transfer each time I start my car.
