Transfer address book

I have been trying to transfer my address book from my HTC Touch HD to my car without success.
The pairing process works great, the phone is listed in the car and the car is listed in the phone.
But no phonebook is transferred and I'm not able to place calls with the paired phone.
When going into the phone menu (or SMS or other) I get "Please insert SIM Card".
As do have original BMW phone installed I do suspect that this may be the cause of this?
Any tips?
