My old phone, a Moto, took about 5-10 seconds.

My new SonyEricsson W890i, I'm having trouble with linking so....

Guys with Blackberry's the delay is mainly the address book, I have about 1000+ contacts and it takes sometimes more than a minute to sync and get control over the radio and the rest of the iDrive. Also while the BB is downloading the AB if you have navigation, your map is trying to load. Everything takes time.

~5-10 seconds for my phone to pair/connect. A bit longer for the AB to load, ~30 sec to 1 minute (400+ contacts).

Phone BB Curve 8330 (VZW)
Thanks - ONE more question to all of you:

1. Does it make a difference in connection time if you have navigation on?

Thanks!

My Motoorola MAXX takes 60-90 seconds to connect with my '07 530xi.

By comparison, in my '01 e38 740i w/Nav the same phone paired in 5-10 seconds; in our '07 Rav4 the pairing is instantaneous. Maybe the "advanced technology" in the newer BMW's needs some vitamins!

Don't have NAv so could not tell you. Butmember Moopai posted above, it does. It would make sense tho, the computer can only process so much info at one time, slowing the load time...

Since the E60 was introduced, Nav equipped cars have always taken longer to boot iDrive and associated electronics. On my '04 car (no Nav), iDrive booted immediately, but on my new car w/ Nav, iDrive takes almost a minute to boot then it makes the BT connection...

I have a motorola maxx as well (the best camera phone in the slim formfactor I have found)

Wonder if there's anything that can be done in terms of sw upgrade?
Also do you have NAV?

During the past three months both my Nav s/w and Progman have been updated to the current versions available. The OS for my MAXX is also the most current available from MOT. Still my Motorola MAXX takes 60-90 seconds to connect with my '07 530xi.

Try Motorola Software Update http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/motos...mp;language=ENS

The Maxx has been updated several times since it was released. You'll need a mini USB cable.

My MAXX has had the firmware updated during the past 3 months by both Motorola and Verizon. It still remains slow to connect to my e60 but is lightening fast in our Rav4.
