Hi Alohalc,
Unless you complain your program is not working properly as mentioned in previous post in this thread, you might have to pay for it.

Check this TIS from BMWUSA
http://forums.e60.net/index.php?act=...e=post&id=9284

4. For E60/63/64 vehicles produced from 3/04 to 8/04, Bluetooth functionality can be added to most of these vehicles by updating the vehicle software using CIP 13.2 or higher. After this is performed "Retrofit" of "Tel Bluetooth" needs to be performed. Follow the procedure as described in this Service Information for "Activating Bluetooth" and "Pairing the Handset". Vehicles prior to 3/04 would need to have the TCU replaced with the 2005 MY TCU at the customer's expense and the vehicle updated to CIP 13.2 or higher. Phone docking cradles may not be added to these vehicles because of wiring incompatibility. Note: This software update and retrofit is not covered under warranty and is at the customer's expense.

I don't know whether you can ask them to load the CIP 16.2 and do the pairing of Blue Tooth youself with the help of this TIS and save youself some cash.

Tell us your experience with your upgrade and functionality after your upgrade. Thanks.

the upgrading sw part is free under warranty. but they are going to charge me 2 hours labor for activating the bluetooth. i understand i have to pay some since some members here only paid one hour labor and some didn't pay anything at all. that's why i called the service manager and expecting his call back tomorrow. i didn't complain to anybody and my service advisor (assistant mgr) understood my point as well. will see what are they going to tell me .

Hi Everyone,

Any stories out there for E60 with the production date March to August/2004 ? (September 2004 and after, they are all Blue Tooth Ready).

Please share your experience with new CIP 16.2 software upgrades to get Blue Tooth communication, MP3 and 3D Navigation? Any successful stories ?

Thanks.

I'm not sure what software version my dealer is trying to install (Crevier) but they just called me stating they've tried to update my software 2x now and it has crashed both times. I'm not sure how they plan fixing this problem. My car has had 3 updates in the past with no issues.

I'm wondering if my TCU is to old to update

Hi Busta,

From what I read from BMW USA, March/04 built should have the right TCU.

"For E60/63/64 vehicles produced from 3/04 to 8/04, Bluetooth functionality can be added to most of these vehicles by updating the vehicle software using CIP 13.2 or higher. "

Please share the outcome of your update. Thanks.

I bet its 16.2 It has problems corrupting data and burning out TCUs on 7s, 6s and 5s

Do you know what they mean by MOST ? I was updated to 13.2 awhile ago and do not have bluetooth active but I didn't ask for it at the time.

Given your production date, all that would be required would be to have BT activated by your dealer. By the time they get the car connec ted to their computer and go through the activiation and clearing of the faults, it should be about two hours work.

Let us know how it goes.

Sounds like once the software in upgraded to 16.2, the Bluetooth can be activated and paired by us based on the activation and pairing instructions posted earlier hence save 2 hours of labor charge by the dealer ??? I am wrong in my assumption?
