I'm at a loss here why my phone cradle doesn't power up my iphone 3G.

I bought the TCU adapter, phone cradle template and iphone 3G snap in adapter for my car. I was able to attach TCU adapter to the antenna and DIN plug into the center console. However the adapter doesn't appear to power up. What am I missing here to make this phone cradle work?

I'm currently able to interface the bluetooth on my Navigation screen, make and receive phone calls. Do I need to do any special dealer coding to activate the TCU adapter? My production date of my 5 series was 5/2004.

It is not possible to retrofit phone cradles in 2004 MY build cars as the wiring is incompatible. Wiring harnesses were changed in 2005 MY cars. I tried to retrofit a cradle in my 2004 and was told that it would not be possible except for the CPT 5000 Moto phone.

Point 4 in SI B84 13 04, the major Service Bulletin dealing with BT in 04 and 05 MY cars states :

4. For E60/63/64 vehicles produced from 3/04 to 8/04, Bluetooth? functionality can be added to most
of these vehicles by updating the vehicle software using CIP 13.2 or higher. After this is performed
"Retrofit" of "Tel Bluetooth" needs to be performed. Follow the procedure as described in this Service
Information for "Activating Bluetooth" and "Pairing the Handset". Vehicles prior to 3/04 would need to
have the TCU replaced with the 2005 MY TCU at the customer's expense and the vehicle updated to CIP
13.2 or higher. Phone docking cradles may not be added to these vehicles because of wiring
incompatibility. Note: This software update and retrofit is not covered under warranty and is at
the customer's expense.

I have a 2006 MY car and the snap-in adapter still won't charge my iPhone. I've exchanged the actual snap-in adapter with no luck. I am going to try a new baseplate. The odd thing is that the baseplate is getting power (I took it apart and measured the voltage at the wiring harness).

Any ideas?
