Bummer that your MDA doesn't work. I have an MPx 220 that I'd rather use instad of the larger kjam, but I can't do without the bluetooth in the car.

The delay in getting the fixes from MS to the customer is due to lots of things. Primarily, its the long time an OEM takes to bring up and stabilize a Smartphone/Pocket PC build on a device and the time it takes the carrier to test and approve the build. It's amazing how long this takes.

The MDA does in fact work! I have it! The first time i paired it, it didn't load up. But after turning the car off and then back on, my MDA shows up as Pocket_PC and the phone book loads! I have the most current version of the Idrive system (the one where RDS was made available) If you guys really don't believe me, I can snap pics. I was bummed when i first read this thread since i had already ordered the MDA but after I got it I tried it myself and it works! BTW this is the new release MDA that just came out about a month or two ago.

Riiiight... not to hijack this thread but MS is notoriously bad about fixing their stuff. Yes... the carriers do take their time but when you have a company with a track record like MSFTs you can't point fingers too much.

That is strange.

I wonder why it did not work when I tried it.

I reset the iDrive 3 or 4 times, and even soft-reset the MDA when I was trying to get them to work.
Like I said, the pairing was successful.... but I never could get the phone to operate from iDrive.

What year is your car? What is your software version?

I just got my software updated a few days ago, so maybe I will go by the T-Mobile store soon and try again.

Microsoft finally fixed the problems with Windows Mobile devices and BMW cars mid last year. Given the time it takes for OEMs and carriers to bring the devices to market the ones that work are have just come on the market.

The short answer is that almost all Windows Mobile 5 devices will work properly. I say almost because they need to have the first update to WM 5 internally called AKU 1.1. That's where the fixes were added.

No Windows Mobile 2003 or WM 2003 Second Edition devices will work correctly unless the have a 3rd party Bluetooth stack. In that case, its up to the vendor.

My i-mate K-JAM works with my 545 quite nicely. It has WM 5.0 AKU 1. The os build number on my device is 14402. You can find your build number in the About dialog box in the control panel.
I have a T-Mobile SDA with Windows Mobil V5.0 the or in the about screen it has OS 5.1.70 (Build 14406.1.1.1) will this unit meet the AKU 1.1 you stated above?

The ROM Updated Versions:
Operator 5.1.70.14406
Manufacturer 5.1.70.1446
Microsoft 5.1.70.1446
language and file system are also the same

I notice that there is still no signal strength displayed though. I too have the QTEC9100 (HTC Wizard i think) which almost works perfectly except for the signal strenght and very loud ringing!

Beware of the jetware program though, i have had no end of trouble with it and have never had it work properly causing a full reset and lost all data. Do try it for yourself but backup your phone first.
