I'm about to get rid of my Samsung A900 due to its very poor battery life and inability to link with my car.

So . . .

Can folks who use Sprint service please let me know which current Sprint phones (other than the Treo 650) they have been able to get to work with my '07 E60 with NAV? I would really like phonebook sync as well as the ability to use the hands free call receiving.

Thanks.

I have Sprint and use the Treo. Although linked my friends Sprint MM-A920 to my 545 and it worked like a charm. Although I did not look to see if the phone book was downloaded. This phone is a Samsung but Im sure someone else in this forum has another suggestion.

I am thinking about buying the a900 for my wife, is it that bad a phone? How long was battery and could you have gotten a more expensive battery upgrade - advice appreciated.

My 650 treo works wonderfully in my MY2007 550.

Well, I like the A900's features and it works reasonably well when using it. The problem is that the battery life is very poor (and I am not a huge talker ) I would say that the phone gets less than 1 hour talk time during a single day. Just leaving the phone on, without getting or making any calls and the battery still needs to be recharged every day. I have a second battery and get the same results. It's very disappointing since I need to carry a spare battery around all the time (they are small, but still . . . ) There is no extended battery available for the phone.

The phone is not at all usable with my 530 or my wife's Lexus. Don't know if that is a Sprint problem or a phone problem.

I too have a Treo 650, but use it more as an email device than a phone. It's a little big to carry around all the time and I don't like to just leave it in the car.

Hey James,

Could you do me a favor and check and see if your friend's MM-A920 transfers the phone book. I would really like to avoid swithching carriers in order to get a phone that will link.

Thanks

Hi,

I just got an A900 today and it paired ok with my 530i... I don't think the phone book will transfer because I don't have Nav, but it seems to make hands-free calls ok...

Hi Jon

Double check that will you. I think mine also paired at first, but didn't work so well. I also believe it "unpairs" at will.

Let me know what you find out.

Thanks

PS - Anyone else using current Sprint phones (other than Treo 650) that are working???

There are two new Sprint phones out that will pair with my 06 E60.

1. Sanyo Katana (SCP-6600) will do a full phone book transfer that shows multiple numbers per contact (i.e. home, work, cell) and also displays the signal strength on I-Drive. However, it doesn't feature Sprint's Power Vision and also may suffer from poor battery life because of its "ultra slim" design. The Katana is available at sprint.com, in Sprint stores, and at Radio Shack.

2. Nokia 6165i will only transfer the default phone number per contact and does not display the phone's signal strength on I-Drive. Like the Katana it does not feaure Sprint's Power Vision but it does have a battery rated at 4 hrs talk/240 hrs stand-by. The Nokia is available exclusively at Radio Shack.

I've found that the Radio Shack guys are generally willing to go out to the car with you to demo the phone before you buy it.

I hope this helps you guys out!

I'll definitely test this out... I just tried once and it worked, but I realize that this does not guarantee it will work reliably. I'll post again in a few days after I try it for a while...

I've got an '06 530i (fairly recent CIP -- plays MP3's now...), and my Sprint Fusic (the LG LX550) works great in handsfree mode, but the contacts do NOT sync.

FWIW, I love the phone. Nice little multimedia device, and very small/thin. Bought it after the local Verizon dealer told me that their Razr V3M was a "music" player, but not an MP3 player. "Excuse me?", I say. The guy says "It's WMA only... but you can easily convert all your MP3's to WMA!". Yes, I immediately walked out of the store.
