SMS: anyone used this in their communications?

really? that is too bad the BTUM cannot transfer text messages to the SMS section of communications... there is no other way except for the hardwire V60 phone? How come BTUM cannot transfer text messages? it is a simple data transfer... nothing complicating... why why why?

I'm not an expert on the different BT protocols but it's likely that the car doesn't support one that allows for SMS over BT (if such a protocol even exists.)
It'll be interesting to see it that feature is ever added down the road...

I have the CPT9000 and the only time I've gotten SMS messages is when someone chooses to use the "pager " option instead of leaving me a voicemail message, and then it only displays "Please Call" and the callers phone number. If I get a chance I'll photo it and post here.

What carrier do you have? I had Cingular (AT&T at the time) with my old CPT9000 and I was able to receive text messages sent to <wireless number>@mmode.com (or SMS messages sent from another phone) on my iDrive screen...

Update: Now that I've got a BT phone installed the SMS option is gone from the I drive screen. My new Sprint RAZR v3m works and pairs perfectly, though.

SMS used to work fine when I was using CPT9000. It went away with BT. Hopefully BMW will get it to work with BT sometime soon, but of course we early adopters will probably be left out
