Anyone used the SMS option on the top bar of the communications section of I-drive?
I am in North America (Canada), and wondering what the caller needs to do for me
to receive SMS messages... thanks!!

 

I have no ideea. Give me your phone number and I will send one. Here in Europe, all GSM phones have SMS support. I also have a partner in US which can send and receive SMS to/from me. I can receive messages in my car.

 

is SMS different from text messages? I tried sending text message from my father's phone to my cell, and nothing was shown in my I-drive... I am using Motorola V551

 

As far as I know, SMS only works with the CPT9000 phone and even then, it only displays incoming messages, you can't use the iDrive system to send any SMS messages...

 

It was shown on the early 13.x CIP releases, but then it went away when the Bluetooth was added. Is it back again in the newer CIP versions?

 

With v23.1, the SMS option is back with CPT9000, but how can I have someone send me SMS message and I can see it on screen? I tried with 2 cell phones sending text messages to my phone, but nothing shows up in SMS screen.... what needs to be done to see the messages on i-drive screen? anyone also has pictures of that? thanks guys!!

 

So you're using the CPT9000 and not Bluetooth? If so, then it should work fine...

You need to send a text message to the cellphone taht is connected. Once the message is received you should be able to read it on the screen...

 

but does the SMS work with BTUM? The CPT9000 with BTUM is installed and working, but when someone sends me text message, my cell phone receives it, but it does not get transferred to I-drive to see the message on I-drive screen... please help... thanks!!

 

As far as I know, the displaying of SMS messages only works with a hard-wired CPT9000 phone (Motorola V60)...
