I just took my UK 2004 325d SE E61 in to get it coded for a changer and an aux port. BMW tried to do a full software upgrade which, apparently, went very badly wrong. They blamed the CD changer (an E-Bay purchase supplied and fitted by me) for the coding failure and said that it took them 5 hours to just restore my care to 'factory config' and they'd failed to code in the changer and the aux port. They told be to take out the changer and they'ed charge me another ?200 to have another go. Well, I get the car back to find both changer and aux port working perfectly and a couple of other changes that showed that the code load had gone OK (much to their surprise when I told them about it!). I can now have day time lights and the BMW Contatc numbers are in the Coms window.
Anyway...
When I re-paired my Samsung Omnia witht the MULF, I now get the car offering 3 profiles, Hands Free, OBE and now serial. Anybody got any idea what the serial port is for? Is it so I cabn add a TTY and enable 'M power' option in the ecu
