Today I tried to set up a Samsung i730 (Verizon) to my wife's 2005 545i through BlueTooth. Went through the steps but couldn't seem to get it to work and gave up. A short time later while driving the phone in the car rings and it seems to be working. Works great as a headset for the phone however iDrive still says that no phone is istalled and the address book, dialing etc. is not available. Anyone have any luck gatting the whole package up and running. I searched the forum and saw some ery old posts regarding this phone but was hoping for more recent info. Possible software updates etc.

Thanks in advance, Steve!

I also have a new i730 (one week) and a 2005 545. I am able to successfully pair the car and the phone. I've done this multiple times. When I leave range and reenter range they properly pair each time. But my calls are unreliable. I can initiate a call from the phone (only) and it usually transfers to the car. But usually the call reverts back to the handset within 30-ish seconds - sometimes shorter, sometimes longer. The call isn't dropped - it's just reverted to the handset. Only rarely can I receive an incoming call and have it successfully transfer to the car.

This seems to be a problem with PPC phones. I'm certainly interested when somebody gets both sides working. Unclear whether the problem lies on the PPC side or with BMW.

I'm interested in whether anybody with CPI 20 has a Pocket PC phone and has better luck with calls after the upgrade. The other variable on the phone side is WM2003 versus WM2005. My Samsung i730 has WM2003 and my car has CIP 18-ish and exhibits the problems mentioned above.

Anybody have both CIP 20 and WM2005? Does BT work any better?

David.

Devices with Windows Mobile 5 AKU 1.1 and greater will work excellently with the BMW BT as there are specific enhancements there to provide contact sync and other items

That's excellent news teaboy - thanks. Before worrying about contacts sync'ing I'd be happy if the phone/car combo held a call for longer than 30 seconds! Your answer implies that the problems were with the phone, not the car. Not that I care where the problem lies if there is a (pending) solution. It seems there is supposed to be a a WM5 update for the i730 in March.
