My Ride: 04 530i w/nav
I have an 04 530 and just had my software updated. My car came with bluetooh but it wasn't enabled. After the update I could pair my phone, make a phone call, hear the person, They could not hear me. My voice activation works so I don't think it's the mic. Just wondering if the mic for voice activation is the same as the phone mic? Any help would be appreciated.

Bluetooth and Voice use two different mics in the headliner. Another thing to try is swapping the mic positions - its likely that they installed the bluetooth mic further away from you.

do the mics just pop out? I am assuming that you pop the cover off and the mic plugs into a socket? But we all know what happens when you assume.

I switched the mics with the same results. Voice activation still works and phone doesn't. Any other ideas?
1. BT TCU or wiring is faulty
2. Software/Firmware is not correct
3. Phone Firmware/Software is incompatible with the BMW TCU
Start by pairing and using another phone that is known to pair and function with a BMW - then try same with your car. Rule out phone as a problem and isolate BT problem to your car - not to all (BMW) cars.

Is there anyway that there is some kid of mute feature that is on???
It's also possible that the second microfone is not connected. Check both TCU's to see if they both have a microfone attached.
Good luck,

You are going to need your TCU replaced. What is the serial and model number of your TCU? Refer to my post regarding SI 84 14 05. PM me if you have questions. I've been down this road before.
