Hey guys if I'm not mistaken the e60 comes standard with all the bluetooth technology. On my Idrive i go to communication phone and it say "please contact bmw for more information" I never even get the option to pair phone or anything like that for that matter. My bluetooth phone doesnt even find the bmw network the car should put out!

Right, but we need the build date. Look on the driver's side door jam for a plate/sticker that will say something 06/04. That is the build date. If it was built before 09/04, you are not going to get BT working... Here is the official BMW notice about BT.

I too have an 04 530i and had the same problem, It really does depend on your build date. You should be able to find it on your door sill or somewhere like that. My build date was in Dec 03 so the original TCU didn not have the bluetooth capabilties. The dealer was to helped me out, they looked at the TCU and looked it up part number on it. I bought it used and luckily the guy that had it before me had TCU issues while it was still under warranty and he got a brand new one, but they programmed it to the orignial setting. So all they had to do was update the TCU system and activate some attenna and everything worked fine. Not sure how much it cost because i was having an iPod adapter installed at the same time. the total was about $300. I suggest going to the dealer and have them take a look at the TCU.

No worries, ask any question you'd like. First you'd have to make sure the TCU is the right version by checking the part number. Even then, no it is not likely a self install as it will have to be programmed to work with your car. I would call you dealer and talk to the parts guy to see if they can get you a rebuilt TCU that would work. But I've never done this myself...
