We had talked about doing exactly what you suggested but it would involve more of a modification than I was comfortable with. During this whole exercise, I came to understand just how technically complex the electrical system in the E60 is.

My dealer went the extra mile to try to figure out the problem. They even went back to AG to get an updated "Vehicle Order Sheet" to include the fact that I changed my TCU to the new version and had BT enabled in my car. They were thinking that there may be some need to update the BT options in the car's computers in case that was the reason that the power was not being provided from the TCU to the cradle out of the pins in the wiring schematic. In the end, power was available but not form the pins that the schematic specified as being hot. The fried the first cradle they plugged in.

It is certainly not plug and play on the early prodeuction models.
