I have recently managed to pair my Nokia E61i to my 04 545. Ever since I got the phone I have been updating the firmware every time a new version was made available here:

http://www.nokiausa.com/A4410025

TODAY I am very happy to announce that my E61i works! Although limited I can use it to call out and receive calls.

No phone book
No Redial logs
No missed call logs

Fingers crossed that Nokia will come out with more modifications allowing the phone to be completely compatible. My wife uses a RAZR and its works really well!

Firmware info:
2.0633.65.51
01-10-07
RM-227

Good to hear, because I'm considering buying Nokia e61i.

Please test if you get also contacts to iDrive. Work-around can be found from the last post in this thread.

I have an E61i also and was initially disappointed that the phone didn't work with the bluetooth. Wasn't there only 1 firmware update? It took a good 4 months before the first update came out and that update allowed my phone to pair. I'm not sure there was more than 1 update.

Vesil - I tried it and I am sad to say that it does not work. I installed the application on the phone and launched it but it simply continued processing for 30mins on the phone.

Its not the end of the world to have to use your cell phone to dial. Actually you can store up to 50 names and phone numbers in the voice phone book of the car so I use that more than anything. I always end up calling relatively the same people anyway.

My next challenge is solving the sound issue that seems to be common with all phones. The problem is inherent to the BMW BT system. It sometimes works very well even better than talking directly into the handset and sometimes people tell me that there is an annoying humming sound. Seems to happen more in residential areas for some reason.

I would possibly look for something else to use with the car. My wifes RAZR is great but does not have the QWERTY which is a must for me. Maybe the Motorola Q is an option?

Nokia's 9300i communicator works fine. Calling, receiving, phone book, everything. And KBO, it has QWERTY.
