Ive an 05 E61 with Prof Nav and a Nokia 6230, with the result that I am slowly going mad!!
I can pair the phone to the car, but the phone thinks the radio is a headset and therfore will not transfer the phone book, but i can recieve and calls once dialed on the handset are automatically transfered to the handsfree.
Does the radio normally apear as a headset?

The phone DOES display the headset icon when connected, which is what I think you are getting at.
I'm wondering if there is an issue with the location of your data on the phone. Mine is in the phone memory (not on the multimedia card or the sim) and it appears just fine (under a-z on the i-drive menu).

in most nokia phones this is normal the car apears in the phone as a headset....this is what happens when you use a not BMW supported phone...anyways....the phone should work fine....the only problem is that you do not have your address book in the car....this is the same as my 9500, also 6820..and many other phones...
some members have said they do have an address book in the car in there 6230 but im not sure. i think you should have a 6230i, for it to work...
so the headset thing is normal...but im not sure about the address book in your 6230...
