Hi,

I'm considering to change my Nokia 6310 i with a newer model (Nokia 6230 i).

I have an ejectbox to my Nokia 6310 i that is connected to the external antenna.

I know for sure that I can get an ejectbox for the 6230 i, but does it also give me an external connection to the antenna on the roof ??

Anybody knows ?

The snap in adaptor for the 6230i does not have a hard wired ariel connection to the phone as the phone has no external ariel socket. However, they say that the adaptor has integrated software giving a wireless connection to the car ariel.

I have not been able to test whether there is much difference in reception in or out of the holder - to be honest, I have never noticed much of a difference with my old phone either. The 6230i does seem to be the best alternative to the sadly obsolete 6310i.

The following text is from the manual that came with my 6230i snap in adaptor -

Since the Nokia 6230i mobile phone does not have a connector for an external aerial, this mobile phone must be connected to the car's exterior ariel using a wireless connecting aerial in the snap-in adapter to create a perfect wireless connection in the car's interior. The electromagnetic field strength is no higher than during the normal use of the mobile phone outside the car.

Not really sure what to make of it.....

I think I will keep the 6310i as the car phone using the adaptor with a slave sim switching off my 6230 while driving.

Why? The reception on the 6230i is better and the sound quality is better!

But if the 6230 i is laying in the ejectbox, and the armrest is closed, is it then possible to get a connection at all ?

I'm facing the same dilemma. Same phones, same problem.

I didn't know there was a cradle for the 6230. I have the 6230, not the 6230i. Not sure what the difference is, and/or whether a firmware upgrade is possible.

Sorry - you've lost me here. The connection is by Bluetooth. The fact that the ariel is not a hard wire is compensated by signal amplification software in the cradle to utilise the car ariel. But I have never been in a situation where the phone doesn't work equally well in my pocket or in the boot. Of course, it won't charge that way but as far as its operation as a phone, there is no difference - although I am sure there will be someone out there who has found a spot where the car ariel makes enough difference to the reception.

The 6230 is essentially a different phone - similar logic and BT connectivity and will fit the same adaptor, but still a different phone.

As far as I know, there's no "amp" in the cradle. Just a cable that connects the phone to an external aerial.
